Textbook, Laboratory, Reference Manual and Field Experience Costs:

Students are responsible for the cost of their textbooks ($100 to $150 per book), virtual lab access fees ($50 to $250), reference materials (for medical coding) ($150 to $225 per manual) and certification exams ($199 to $400 depending on the exam). All the costs are estimates and can depend on where the student purchases the item, funding and other factors.

The program is actively supported by community and industry partners who host Santa Fe College Health Information Technology students throughout the state of Florida.

After successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Describe revenue cycle management processes.
2. Demonstrate information protection, including access, use, disclosure, privacy and security.
3. Explain key aspects of health law and compliance.
4. Identify organizational management and leadership activities.
5. Apply health informatics/data analysis using technologies (AI, CAC) and databases to ensure secure data exchange and improve healthcare quality.
6. Validate diagnostic/procedure codes and groupings per guidelines, supporting revenue cycle management and clinical documentation improvement.

Overview: Practice discipline requiring cognitive, sensory, affective and psychomotor skills.

Performance Standards: Applicants should review standards and consult healthcare providers to assess ability to perform duties. Healthcare settings require clear background checks, drug screening and physical exams. Discuss concerns with the Academic Chair for Business Programs.
