Zaveckaite Named Player of the Week for December 18-31

Gainesville, FL – Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s Paulina Zaveckaite is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Zaveckaite, a sophomore from Gainesville, Fla., averaged 15.0 points, 18.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.7 blocks in three games during the voting period.
Zaveckaite did her work at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Holiday Classic, recording a double-double in all three games. In a win over Prince George's on December 28, she tallied 14 points and 14 rebounds in a contest that was called with 11:32 remaining in the second half. The next day against two-time defending NJCAA Region 8 champion Pensacola State, she enjoyed one of the best games of her collegiate career – scoring 21 points and pulling down a career-high 25 rebounds – in the Saints' 67-57 win.
On December 30 against nationally-ranked Gulf Coast State, she had 10 points and 16 rebounds in a narrow 87-79 defeat. For the week, Zaveckaite shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from the field and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the free throw line.
