“Run with the Copsâ€ at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» on Nov. 10

October 23, 2026

The Gainesville community is invited to join the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Police Department (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»PD) for “Run with the Cops,â€ a morning of fun, fitness and fellowship, with a special emphasis on adults and students with special needs and vulnerabilities.

This year marks the 11th anniversary of the event, which will be Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., on the track at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s Northwest Campus. Participants are invited to run, walk or roll with members of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»PD and other first responders.

"As first responders, we often don't get to experience individuals from vulnerable populations outside of moments of need,â€ said Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»PD Lt. Mark Barley, who helps organize the event. “That is what Run with the Cops is for — to come together, celebrating relationships with those who have disabilities, those who are young or old, or those who just want to show their support for these individuals. Our goal is to ensure everyone feels supported, valued, and cared for, while enjoying donuts, good music, and engaging with our community."

The event is free and open to all ages and abilities. Participants typically include everyone from preschoolers to retirees and other older adults. The goal of the event is for the community to see police as allies, and to promote safety, security, health, and wellness.

There will be displays of police and fire rescue vehicles, including specialty and antique units, giving attendees a closer look at the tools and equipment used in public safety.

“Participants also will have the chance to learn important safety tips and discover resources for staying secure in everyday life as well as getting great information from other community organizations," Barley said.
