Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Awarded Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant

Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ has been awarded a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. This is the fourth time the college has received this grant through the Florida Attorney General's office. Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ uses the funds to support a Victim Advocate at the college, who helps victims of crime find the services they need.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Police Department (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD) Chief Ed Book expressed that he is "very excited that Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ has been funded for the fourth year in a row for this important work, which helps victims on or off campus and connects them to Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ resources."

Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD is dedicated to innovation and leadership in the victim service community, prioritizing individuals in all its initiatives. With a mission to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and visitors at Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­, Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD aims to create a supportive environment on campus.

The presence of a Victim Advocate is intended to help victims feel more comfortable and safer as they navigate challenging situations. Those affected by crime can continue their education at Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ while being connected to additional support services that enhance their chances of success.
