All joggers welcome for Special Olympics Torch Run at Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ April 25

For casual joggers to experienced runners, the annual Special Olympics Torch Run will include the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Northwest Campus Saturday, April 25 for the first time. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Publix on 39th Avenue.

Anyone interested in joining should park near the Police Department on the Northwest Campus before 9:15 a.m. A free shuttle will bring attendees across the street to Publix. Joggers will slowly run as a team beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Publix on a 1 1/2 mile course. They will be escorted by a law enforcement motorcade made up of officers from Alachua County agencies. The course will end at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Police Department where lunch will be provided and Special Olympians will join.

This is part of nationwide law enforcement efforts to raise funds for Special Olympics.

Runners must purchase a shirt on site (choices between $20-30) & sign a waiver. Lunch is included. Runners also will receive special discounts after the run to attend the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Zoo and Planetarium.
