Times Talks promote democracy at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»
January 20, 2016
Times Talks are open conversations about important and controversial issues in the news and are part of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s efforts to promote greater civic engagement at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». They are an opportunity for students, faculty members and other members of the college community to sit as equals and exchange views on important issues in a casual, informal and civil environment. Times Talks are moderated each time by a different volunteer faculty or student facilitator. These events provide a wonderful opportunity to participate in the sort of vigorous and engaging discussion of important issues that is needed in a democracy.
The first "Times Talk" of spring term will be held on Wednesday, Jan, 20, at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Lawrence W. Tyree Library. The topic for this talk will be "Elections: Is Democracy being Hi-jacked by Big Money."
All are welcome to attend, but if you RSVP by sending an email to alan.beck@sfcollege.edu, you will receive background articles for the talk, and you will get on the mailing list to be informed of future events.
