DAYTONA HANDS SANTA FE 3-1 ROAD MFC LOSS

September 23, 2016

The Santa Fe Saints got off to a great start on Thursday evening in Daytona against the Falcons, winning the first set 25-17 to set the tone early. DSC flipped the script on the Saints (9-7, 0-2 MFC) in the second set, winning 25-21, the first of three straight wins.

"The first set was a positive sign for us," said Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Coach Nick Cheronis. "But passing broke down from there. We aren't going to win on the road when that happens."

With the score tied at 1-1, both teams fought for the third set and the momentum. Daytona started strong and rode that early wave to a 25-19 win and a 2-1 advantage.

In the third set, the Falcons (7-6, 2-0 MFC) pulled away early for the 25-10 win, sealing the match.

Clare Donegan, Nadine Williams, and Sterling Williamson all finished with seven kills, and Meraiah Hill had five blocks.

The Saints will get back to Mid-Florida Conference play on September 27 at Lake Sumter State College at 7:00 p.m.
