April 11, 2017 - Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Fastpitch
Gainesville, FL – The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Saints (29-18, 12-10 MFC) dropped the first game of a double header at St. John's River State College 3-0 but rebounded to pull out a 4-2 victory over the Vikings in the night cap, and in the process clinched a spot at the FCSAA Tournament, set to take place April 28-30 in Vero Beach.
St. John's had Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s number in the first game, holding the Saints scoreless, a task that has been difficult for opponents this season.
Game two was a better result for the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Saints. Kaylan Tucker went the distance in the circle, allowing just a single run in the first and another in the seventh. She struck out three and scattered five hits. Evelyn Arguelles, Cassandra Garcia, Adrix Paradizo-Ramos, and Kaylan Tucker had two hits each. Arguelles and Garcia each drove in a run.
With the FCSAA Tournament berth set, the Saints will now turn their attention to improving their seeding. Two wins against Lake Sumter Thursday, April 13, could potentially put Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in play for the #3 seed. They are currently the #4 seed in the Mid-Florida Conference. The first game of the double header is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Both games can be seen live on www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork.
