CFK Space Challenge at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Featured on TV-20
March 29, 2018
March 29, 2018 – Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» hosted area elementary and middle school students during their spring break as a part of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s College for Kids Space Challenge. The program was featured during Wednesday evening's newscast on WCJB TV-20.
This year's theme, "Black Holes and Beyond", encouraged students in grades 4-8 to think outside the box while exploring the space frontier through hands-on, interactive team activities. Students learned about the scientific method and the design engineering process to solve problems in a way that computers and robots might not be able to do.
Students began each day at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, where planetarium coordinator James Albury conducted tours of the universe using the latest full-dome digital projection system.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s CFK also offers a summer program with over 70 courses taught by highly qualified instructors. Summer camps are offered at three different locations: Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Northwest Campus in Gainesville, the Andrews Center in Starke and the Super Science Camp at the Watson Center in Keystone Heights.
They also offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) Leadership Program for teens ages 15-18 years old wanting to gain leadership training and volunteer hours.
