Areas in and around Gainesville could see 3 inches of rainfall or more over the next week. There is also the threat of rip currents along Florida's Gulf coast over the Memorial Day weekend.

The Florida Legislature approved a weeklong sales tax holiday, beginning June 1, on items ranging from batteries, flashlights, coolers, tarps, gasoline cans and generators.
