Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Staff Attend Emergency Management Training

July 31, 2018 – Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ employees toured the new Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD building Tuesday morning, not only to see the recently-opened facility, but also to get valuable information about safety and security at the college. The Emergency Management Readiness Exercise was staffed by both Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD as well as community partners that included Alachua County Fire Rescue, Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Gainesville Fire Rescue, Gainesville Amateur Radio Society and Gainesville Regional Utilities.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Emergency Management (EM) team members also participated in a FEMA designed training exercise. The scenario enabled the EM team to coordinate efforts and resources in an EF3 tornado were to touch down near the Northwest Campus. Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­PD Chief Ed Book said these kinds of training exercises are vital to maintaining a safe campus for students and staff alike.
