Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» Volleyball: Saints Prepare for Postseason

October 29, 2018 – The Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» volleyball team finished their regular season with a loss to Miami-Dade State College, the No. 1 team in the nation Saturday afternoon.
MDSC (24-0, 11-0 SC) remained undefeated on the season with a convincing 3-0 defeat of the Saints on a neutral floor at Daytona State College. The Sharks are back-to-back defending State and National Champions and have not lost a match since the 2016 season.
"There's a reason Miami-Dade is number one in the country," said Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» head coach Nick Cheronis. "They excel at every phase of the game."
The Saints played better as the match progressed, losing set three 25-23 after losing the opening set 25-15 and set two 25-20.
Leah Wilcox led the Saints with nine kills while Aspen Dangren and Jocelyn Garcia registered seven kills each. Garcia recorded a .375 hitting percentage for the match.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» finishes the 2018 regular season with an overall record of 19-3 and with a Panhandle Conference Championship under their belt as they prepare for the NJCAA District/Florida College System Activities Association State Tournament in Bradenton Nov. 2-4.
The Saints will take on Indian River State College at 1 p.m. at the Bradenton Area Civic Center Friday, Nov. 2. They will play again at 7 p.m. that night against either Polk State College or Richard Bland College. The tournament is a double elimination format that is scheduled to wrap up Sunday, Nov. 4. All tournament games will be broadcast on the FCSAA Digital Network.
Three teams from the eight-team tournament will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament held in Hutchinson, Kansas, Nov. 15-17.
