Volunteer Mentors Needed for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Achieve
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021 - A new partnership program designed to bridge achievement gaps and make college a reality for thousands of students needs your help.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» President Paul Broadie II announced Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Achieve at Convocation in August. The program is a partnership between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», and public schools in Alachua and Bradford counties. It focuses on improving the college-going culture in those counties, in part by offering a scholarship to remove financial burdens from high school students in-need. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Achieve provides them the mentorship and coaching to keep them college-focused and college-ready.
As the program rolls out into public schools, the first group of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Achieve Scholars are set to enroll at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in the Fall of 2022. To help ensure their success, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Achieve will pair these new students with a member of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» faculty and staff who will serve as their volunteer mentor while they are enrolled at the college.
Mentors will be asked to check-in with their assigned students each semester, and serve as a point of contact to help facilitate connecting those students to college resources.
If you're interested in serving as a mentor and learning more, please fill out this form.
