The Share Wear mission is to provide access to affordable clothing for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ students and staff in a safe and welcoming environment. That's why every item in our store costs $1 or less. (You read that right: one dollar.) If you're part of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ family, we are here to serve you.

FAQ

We accept gently-worn clothing, shoes, and accessories. You can bring donations in during store hours, use the bin behind the store (in the corridor between Share Wear and the surplus storage area), or email us to coordinate a drop-off.

Please note that due to safety regulations and limited space, we CANNOT accept:

  • undergarments/swimsuits (unless new with tags)
  • unwearable/unusable items (stained, dirty, torn, broken, etc)
  • medical and baby equipment
  • sports gear and personal protective equipment
  • large household items (furniture, appliances, etc.)

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ students and staff are welcome to volunteer at Share Wear. If you're interested, email us or just show up on a Wednesday! Staff must have supervisor approval, and students should consult their advisor about volunteer credit.

Our goal is to meet student needs to the best of our ability. If you need assistance finding specific clothes, our managers and volunteers will help you with friendliness, respect, and discretion.

Share Wear is not for profit. All staff are unpaid volunteers. Monies received are used only for store operations, campus involvement, and Career Service contributions. Share Wear does not receive funding from any source other than sales.

The Share Wear Story

Share Wear was created in 2008 by Career Service employees Tyffany Wishart and Debi McElroy. They built a thrift store from scratch in an empty auto bay, using fixtures donated by local businesses. They charged $1 per item to keep the store running and donated the overflow to Career Service. Tyffany and Debi both retired from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ in 2019, leaving their project in the care of Heather Domin and Mikayla Robinson. We are passionate about carrying on the mission they started: serving Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ students.

During the pandemic, with the help of a generous grant from the we were able to refresh and renew the store in time for a grand reopening in June 2022. Since then we have partnered with several areas on campus including Job Placement, Displaced Homemakers, the Teaching Zoo, various student clubs, and others to meet student needs as best we can. We get help from some amazing student volunteers, including from High School Dual Enrollment and Project SAINT. And of course, everything is still $1 or less!

The Share Wear project is operated by four officers (managers): Cheetara Ritz, Heather Domin, Mikayla Robinson, and Oralia Gamino. The Share Wear Squad conducts all store operations and management. Contact us at sharewear@sfcollege.edu.
