To join our team as a police officer, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Required: A high school diploma or equivalent and must be eligible to take the State Officer Certification Examination within the next six months and receive a passing score.
    Additional Requirements: Applicants must have a valid Florida driver license and be authorized to drive for the College. Must successfully pass the background investigation, physical examination, drug testing, and polygraph.
  • Preferred: An associate degree in criminal justice or a relevant field is preferred, as is knowledge of crime prevention and/or community policing concepts.

Our Hiring Process

Our selection process ensures we hire candidates ready to serve our community with excellence. Steps include:

  1. Interview Panel

  2. Background Investigation
    A thorough review of your history if recommended after the interview.
  3. Conditional Offer of Employment
    Based on departmental needs, conditional offers may be extended, pending successful completion of:
    • Psychological evaluation
    • Drug screening
    • Additional required screenings
  4. Physical Agility Test
